USPTO Abstract

377,518. Turbine plant. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C., 65, Chancery Lane. London.-(Allmõnna, Svenska Elektriska, Aktiebolaget; Võsteras, Sweden.) Oct. 31, 1931, No. 30252. [Class 110 (iii).] In a turbine plant one or more high pressure turbines 2 and a low pressure condensing turbine 1 are arranged, with their connecting pipes 8 in a common outer housing 5 which is subject to condenser vacuum. The turbines may be of the radial-flow, oppositely-running rotor type, and may drive pairs of generators 3, 4 at different speeds, the whole being mounted upon the condenser. The connecting pipes 8 are bent to allow for expansion, or may be provided with elastic joints. The outer casing 5 may be formed in sections to permit of the separate withdrawal of the individual turbines.
