USPTO Abstract
A cannabidiol (CBD) preparation for use in the treatment of seizures associated with Rett syndrome is provided. In particular the seizures associated with Rett syndrome are: tonic, tonic-clonic, absence and focal seizures with impairment. Preferably the CBD preparation comprises greater than 95% (w/w) CBD and not more than 0.15% (w/w) tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC). The CBD preparation may be used in combination with one or more concomitant anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) selected from the group consisting of: clobazam, levetiracetam, zonisamide, valproic acid, perampanel, clonazepam and diazepam. Preferably the dose of CBD is greater than 5 mg/kg/day, in particular the dose of CBD is selected from 20 mg/kg/day, 25 mg/kg/day or 50 mg/kg/day.
