USPTO Abstract
An electrode assembly for making electrocardiogram measurements comprises a substrate 2, at least two electrodes 6,10 for making electrical connection to the skin and self-adhesive means for attaching the substrate to the subject. The substrate 2 comprises at least one electronic item 12 sealed therewithin and is laminated or otherwise constructed so as to facilitate removal of the electronic item 12 from the substrate 2 prior to disposal (fig. 3). The electronic item 12 may therefore be re-used in the manufacture of new electrode assemblies. The data processing means 12 is electrically connected to at least one of the electrodes by means of an extendible electrical connection 18. The electrode assembly may comprise a removable identification element (fig. 4) which can be removed and stuck into a set of paper notes. The removable identification element may be provided with an indicator visible only when the removable identification element is removed, in order to enable a user to see easily that the device has been used, preventing inadvertent re-use of a device.
