USPTO Abstract
A test cell 104 for assessing a well fluid comprising; a body, an inlet means 26 and an outlet means 27, where the body further comprises means to support a sample of formation 22, or where the test cell further comprises a formation sample 22 that is shaped to fit inside the body. The cell may also comprise a screen sample 25 and a sample of filter cake 23 and/or a sample of gravel pack 24, located between the sample of formation and the sample of screen. A pump 21 can be used to pump the well fluid, which may be a drilling fluid, completion fluid or breaker, through the test cell via the inlet and outlet means and the pressure can be measured during pumping. Replicating the conditions encountered downhole allows for the suitability of the well fluid for use in particular formations to be determined.
