USPTO Abstract
One or more phytocannabinoids, selected from the group consisting of tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), cannabidivarin (CBDV), tetrahydrocannabivarinic acid, (THCVA), tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), cannabidol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG) and cannabichromene (CBC), are provided for use in the treatment of prostate cancer. Where present the THCVA is present in an isolated pytocannabinoid, the THCA, CBDA, CBD, CBG or CBC are present in the form of a BDS, and the THCV or CBDV are present in either an isolated form or in the form of a BDS. Alternatively, one or more phytocannabinoids or acid phytocannabinoids may be provided for use in the down regulation of ERK signaling and effect one or more of anti-proliferation, anti-metastasis or anti-angiogenesis in a human patient. Alternatively, one or more phytocannabinoid acid, excluding CBDA or CBDVA, may be provided, for use in medicine. Alternatively, a cannabis plant extract for use in medicine may comprise at least 50% w/w phytocannabinoid component, the non-phytocannabinoid component comprising a monoterpene fraction and a sesquiterpene fraction. Alternatively, an isolated CBD and/or CBD BDS may be provided for use in the treatment of a pre-cancerous symptom of colon cancer. Alternatively, a combination of phytocannabinoids together with a chemotherapeutic agent may be provided for use in the treatment of a glioma.
