USPTO Abstract
An autoinjector comprises housing 200 in which a syringe barrel seat 101 accommodates a syringe barrel containing a medicament and needle. The housing also provides an abutment surface 109 which acts to support the front end 92 of the syringe barrel ahead of the plunger during injection. By ensuring a gap G between the barrel seat and a syringe barrel 'finger flange' 90, the barrel is held under axial compression throughout medicament delivery, thereby reducing the risk of syringe breakage. The abutment surface 109 may comprise flexible inwardly directed fingers (108, figure 7). Also described is a method of assembly for the autoinjector of the invention.
