The complex comprises at least one ribosomal complex, i.e a particulate complex essentially composed of the subunits of ribosomes, and at least one polynucleotide encoding a microbial or viral antigen. The immunogenic complex may be incorporated in a polymeric matrix or in microparticles and is used to prepare compositions or vaccines for the treatment of diseases caused by microbes or viruses, e.g. whooping cough or candidiasis.
