USPTO Abstract

A de-interlacing process takes a weighted sum of pixels in a filter aperture to generate a pixel in an output picture, the weighted sum including products of triplets of pixels. Using a training sequence of progressive material, it is possible to calculate the weighting coefficients necessary to minimise the mean square error between the filter output and the desired result.
