An orally administrable programmed release (i.e. release after a predetermined delay) pharmaceutical preparation comprises a core containing the drug. The core is coated with a hydrophobic material (m.p. 50.90 DEG C) and a surfactant (HLB value 10-16). A water-soluble film forming material may also be incorporated into the coating. There may also be an outer coating which may be an enteric coating or a coating of the same or another drug for prompt release.
