A two-pan device for the controlled delivery of one or more active ingredient(s) to the skin under the influence of an iontophoretic or electro-osmotic force, comprises one pan 202 having a programmable controlling member and an associated power source 213 and another pan 201 comprising an electrode unit containing the or each active ingredient and having a set of active electrodes 203, 204 disposed in, but isolated from, a skin-contacting surface defining a counter electrode 204', the latter part 201 being engagable with the part 202 in a manner so as to select a program applicable to the or each active ingredient and said program when activated bringing about controlled delivery of the or each active ingredient from the electrode unit to the skin. <IMAGE>
