USPTO Abstract
An intra-vaginal ring contraceptive which comprises a central annular core containing a contraceptive hormone and an annular cladding around the core, the core and the cladding being formed of compatible resilient polymeric materials through which the hormone can diffuse, and in which the core further contains a radio opaque material or, where the cladding material is translucent or transparent, a coloured material so that the location of the core within the ring can be determined by visual means or X-rays. The contraceptive screened in this manner is more reliable since those in which the core of hormone is significantly off-centre release hormone considerably faster than normal and can therefore be rejected in a screening process.
