Anti-inflammatory formulations, in the form of a stick, comprise a corticosteroid, one or more oleaginous solvents in which the steroid is dissolved, one or more waxes to impart body and stiffness, and an anti- microbial compound to prevent growth and spread of bacteria on the stick from one application area to another, the anti-microbial being present in an amount of 1 to 25% by weight of the composition.
