1513166 Dry granulation KLINGE PHARMA GmbH & CO 4 June 1975 [4 June 1974] 24191/75 Heading B5A Granules, particularly granules which are suitable for subsequent pressing to form pharmaceutical tablets, are prepared by dry working a mixture of a pulverised pharmaceutical material and a fusible binding material, i.e. a physiologically compatible fat binder such as fatty alcohol, wax or polyalkylene glycol) in a fluidised mixer at a temperature not substantially above the softening or the melting temperature, respectively, of the binder material Preferably, no heat is provided to the process from an external source, any necessary heat being provided by friction, &c., during the mixing. The process may be carried out in vacuo or under a protective atmosphere.
