1493380 N-Chlorocyanoformamidine and aminothiadiazole derivatives prepared therefrom CIBA-GEIGY AG 11 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 53668/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] N-Chlorocyanoformamidine [NC-C(NH 2 ) = N-Cl] is prepared from N-chlorocyanoformimide acid chloride and ammonia (Preparation (a)). 3-Cyano-5-amino-1,2,4-thiadiazole is prepared from N-chlorocyanoformamidine and potassium thiocyanate in methanol by cyclization (Preparation (b)). 3-Trichloromethyl-5-amino-1,2,4-thiadiazole is prepared from N-chloro-trichloroacetamidine and potassium thiocyanate as above (Preparation (c)).
