USPTO Abstract
1481199 Reciprocating pumps; pressurized aerosol dispensing containers DR KARL THOMAE GmbH 4 Nov 1974 [30 Nov 1973] 47525/74 Headings F1A and FIR An operating mechanism for a pump-type or aerosol-type dispensing container, e.g. for producing a medicament spray of predetermined and reproducible spray droplet size spectrum, comprises a finger-operable cap 6 with an outlet 10 connected to the container outlet 8, the cap 6 being reciprocal relative to a body member 2, e.g. a screw cap for the container, as shown, or the container itself, resilient fingers 20 being annularly arranged on the member 2, as shown, or the cap 6, and being engaged by an abutment surface 16 on the cap 6, as shown or the member 2, so that finger pressure on the cap will cause actuation of the container discharge mechanism only when sufficient pressure is exerted to deflect fingers 20 away from abutment 16, cap 6 then moving down with a snap-action movement until abutments 12 and 14 engage. In Fig. 2 (not shown), fingers 20 are located so as to be deflected outwardly by cap 6.
