1479544 Animal feed compositions AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 3 Feb 1975 [7 Feb 1974 (2)] 4621/75 Heading A5B [Also in Divisions A2 and C2] An animal feed composition for enhancing the growth rate of ruminant livestock, poultry and fur-bearing lanimals contains 25 ppm to 800 ppm of a compound of the formula wherein X is sulfur or oxygen; R, is hydrogen, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, allyl, benzyloxy, (C 1 -C 4 alkoxy) carbonylmethyl, (C 1 -C 4 alkoxy) methyl, C 3 -C 7 cycloalkyl, benzyl, hydroxy, C 1 -C 4 hydroxyalkyl, monohalophenyl, mono (C 1 -C 4 alkoxy)-phenyl, 2-thiazolyl, 2-thiazolin- 2-yl, 2-pyridyl, dihalo-2-pyrimidinyl, pyridylmethyl, acetyl, benzoyl, amino, di(C 1 -C 4 alkyl) amino, (C 1 -C 4 alkyl) carbamoyl, anilino, (C 1 -C 4 alkyl) phenylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydro-1-naphthyl, or 2-[3-(1, 2, 3, 4- tetrahydro-l-naphthyl)ureido]ethyl; R 2 is hydrogen or C 1 -C 12 akyl; R 3 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or hydroxy; R 4 is hydrogen or methyl; R 5 is hydrogen or iodine; R 6 and R' 6 are both hydrogen or both methyl; R 7 is hydrogen, amino, chlorine, cyano, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy; R 8 is hydrogen, chlorine, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy; R 9 is hydrogen, chlorine, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, acetamido or -NH-CO-NHR 11 where R 11 is allyl, C 1 -C 12 alkyl or hydrogen; R 10 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy or C 1 -C 4 alkyl; with the following provisos; (a) that when R 1 is H, R 2 and R 3 may be a C 2-4 alkylene group joined together to form with the intervening atoms a 5-7 membered saturated ring; (b) that when R 3 is hydroxy, then R 1 is other than hydroxy, benzyloxy or C 2-4 alkoxy; and (c) that at least four of R groups R, to R 10 are hydrogen; in a nutritionally balanced diet.
