1435139 Thiazole derivatives SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 14 Aug 1973 [17 Aug 1972 5 April 1973] 39505/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds having the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are each hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl, cycloalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, or an optionally substituted heteroaromatic ring containing oxygen and/or sulphur and/or nitrogen; and R 3 and R 4 are each hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl; and salts thereof. They may be prepared by reacting an amino alcohol of the formula wherein X is halogen with a mercaptothiazole of the formula The compounds of the invention exhibit betaadrenergic receptor blocking effects and may be used to treat heart disease and may be administered in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
