USPTO Abstract
1422974 Powders for tableting F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 9 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 16890/73 Heading A5B [Also in Division B1] A free flowing, high density, agglomerated powder suitable for direct compression tableting techniques is prepared by spray drying wherein the spray of material to be spray dried is contacted during drying in the spray drier chamber with a powder spray comprising an absorbent material having particle sizes 2- 16Á. The absorbent material may be silicic and, silica gel, an alkali metal silicate, magnesium carbonate, kaolin clay or dicalcium phosphate. The following compositions may thus be made:- (a) 45-60% d, l alphatocopheryl acetate, 38-53% hydrolyzed gelatin having an O bloom and a M.W. of 9000-11000, C0.1% sodium benzoate, 0,2% of sorbic acid and 1-3% silicic acid (b) 15-30% vitamin A palmitate, 50-65% of hydrolyzed gelatin of low bloom, 10-20% sucrose, 2% - 6% of 1, 2 dihydroxy 6 ethoxy 2, 2, 4 trimethylquinoline and 1-5% silicic acid, (c) 45-65% riboflavin, 15-25% of a non absorbent inorganic filler, 15-35% hydrolyzed cereal flour and 1-5% silicic acid (d) 20%-30% of a flavour oil, 70-80% low bloom hydrolyzed gelatin and 1-3% silicic acid and (e) 45-60% of d, l alphatocopheryl acetate, 38-53% hydrolyzed gelatin having O bloom and a M.W. 9000-11000 C0.1% of sodium benzoate, C0.2% of sorbic acid and 1-2% of an absorbent comprising 4-12% of calcium silicate having a particle size of 3.4Á, an oil absorption capacity of 1-3 kg/kg and surface area of 175 m<SP>2</SP>/g. and 88-96% of a fine-particle sized spray-dried vitamin E composition, comprising 15-20% d, l alphatocopheryl acetate, 80-85% hydrolyzed gelatin of O bloom and M.W. of 9000-11000, C1% sodium benzoate and C0.7% sorbic acid.
