1422263 4-Phenyl-piperidines FERROSAN AS 23 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973] 4496/73 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including salts thereof) wherein R represents an alkyl or alkynyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group optionally substituted by C 1-4 alkyl, alkylthio, alkoxy, halogen, nitro, acylamino, methylsulphonyl or by methylenedioxy, or represents tetrahydronaphthyl, R<SP>1</SP> represents H, trifluoro (C 1-4 )alkyl, alkyl or alkynyl, and X represents hydrogen, alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, alkoxy, trifluoroalkyl, hydroxy, halogen, methyl thio or aralkoxy, are made from the corresponding -CH 2 OH compounds. The methane sulphonate of 3-hydroxymethyl-1-methyl-4-phenylpiperdine is also prepared. Pharmaceutical preparations useful as antidepressants and anti-Parkinson agents contain (1) as active ingredient.
