1387954 Insufflators MILES LABORATORIES Inc 8 May 1973 21991/73 Heading A5T An inhaler device -for dispensing medicament, comprises a housing 1, a rotor 4 adapted to carry a capsule 14 of medicament in a chamber within the housing, said chamber communicating with a mouthpiece 2, an inhalationpassage 3 leading from the chamber to atmosphere through a non-return inlet valve (13) Fig. 4 (not shown), a passage (11') Fig. 3 (not shown) in the mouthpiece communicating with the driven portion of the rotor 4, a passage (11) Fig. 3 (not shown) in the mouthpiece leading to the medicament chamber and a non-return valve (15) Fig. 5 (not shown) cooperating with an exhalation orifice 5. The drive portion which may comprise a plurality of vanes (6) Fig. 2 (not shown) is in a second chamber within the housing 1, the two chambers being separated by the rotor 4, which may be disc-like, having the drive portion on one side, and the capsule or alternatively the plurality of capsules, mounted on the other side. A plunger 8, bias-spring 9 and pin 10 may be provided for piercing a capsule. A portion of the rotor may be engageable from outside the housing for indexing the rotor position. The rotor may comprise the capsules of medicament and be formed as a single replacement unit.
