1381872 Compositions for inhalation FISONS Ltd 1 June 1972 [22 June 1971] 29207/71 Heading A5B A pharmaceutical powder composition comprises a mixture of a solid inhalation medicament having an effective particle size, (as defined), in the range 0.01 to 10 microns, and a solid carrier acceptable in the lungs, having an effective particle size in the range of from 80 to 150 microns. Suitable medicaments include the di-sodium salt of 5, 5'-[(5, 5'-(2-hydroxytrimethylene) dioxy) bis (4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-2-yl)] tetrazole, sodium cromoglycate, isoprenaline, ephedrine, adrenaline, theophylline, tetracycline, steroids, enzymes, vitamins, antihistamines, N-acetyl cysteine or its salts, propyliodone, tantalum and paracetamol. The carrier may be coated with a material such as stearic acid or polyvinyl pyrrolidone which may give a sustained release action to the medicament.
