1367677 Optically-active phenyl acetonitriles KNOLL AG CHEMISCHE FABRIKEN 25 Nov 1971 [5 Dec 1970] 54721/71 Heading C2C Laevo-rotatory phenyl acetonitriles of general Formula I and their salts in which A is methoxy or trifluoromethyl, B is hydrogen or methoxy D, is hydrogen or methoxy, E is hydrogen benzyloxy, trifluoromethyl or methoxy, G is hydrogen, chlorine or methoxy and K is hydrogen or methoxy or E and G are both ethoxy and K is hydrogen are prepared by reacting (1) the laevo-rotatory isomer of a compound of Formula II with a compound of Formula III or (2) the laevo-rotatory isomer of a compound of Formula IV with a compound of Formula V Compounds I in which A is limited to methoxy, and E to hydrogen, benzyloxy or methoxy are novel. The laevo-rotatory isomers of compounds of general Formula I are useful as a coronary therapeutic and form, with a carrier, a pharmaceutical composition which may be administered orally or parenterally.
