USPTO Abstract
1340788 Nasal plugs MATBURN (HOLDINGS) Ltd 12 Jan 1972 [4 Feb 1971] 3890/71 Heading AST A nasal plug comprises a first inflation-tube 1 with an inflatable balloon 2 at one end and a closure member 3 at the other; and a second inflation-tube 6 having an inflatable sleeve or cuff 5 and a closure member 7 at the other. The closure members 3, 7 may contain non- return valves (4, 8) retained by rubber sleeves (10, 11) or may be plugs, the purpose of the members being to prevent the escape of the inflation medium from the inflated balloon and sleeve. In use the deflated balloon is inserted through the nose and on through the nasal cavity, the balloon is then inflated and slight tension applied to the first inflation-tube to wedge the balloon. The sleeve is then pushed along the first inflation-tube into the nostril and inflated to seal the passage.
