USPTO Abstract
1306541 Centrifugal casting of tubes CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 19 Jan 1970 [20 Jan 1969 (2) 22 Jan 1969 7 Feb 1969] 2476/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division B3] Tubes are formed by centrifugal casting of solidifiable liquids in a mould placed in a bearing liquid having a higher specific weight than the mean specific weight of the mould and casting liquid, in an outer rotating container. The tube may be cast stepwise, forming several layers and may contain reinforcements. The liquid may be polymerized during casting. Examples of casting materials are a mixture of beeswax and paraffin; polymethylmethacrylate; poly-(ethylene glycol methacrylate); epoxy resin/hexamethylene diamine; silicone rubber; nylon; and plaster of Paris. The bearing liquid may be mercury, melted Woods' alloy, saturated aqueous sodium chloride. The mould may be glass or polyethylene. A knit polyethylene terephthalate tube or a perforated polymethylmethacrylate tube may be incorporated as reinforcement. The tube may be used as a prosthesis or catheter or as a former for electrical windings.
