USPTO Abstract
1300969 Surface treatment of acid crystals ORGANON LABORATORIES Ltd 20 March 1970 [26 March 1969] 13650/70 Headings C2C and C2V Modified acid crystals, the surface of which comprises a water-soluble salt of the said acid, are prepared by treating acid crystals with traces of water in an amount 0À1-2À0% by weight of the total dry mixture in the presence of calcium or magnesium oxide or hydroxide. The acid crystals may be wetted with an organic solvent for that acid (e.g. with an organic polybasic acid) in the presence of water and metal compound, after which the mixture is dried by removal of the solvent. Exemplified are citric, adipic and ascorbic acids (either alone or in admixture).
