[Also in Division C2] Biocidal preparation comprises a trifluoromethylphenyl carbamate or urea of the formula (I) wherein Y denotes H, F, Cl, Br, or I, X denotes O or S and a) when n=1, A is 0 and B is B' -N=C<, < in which B' is H, alkyl, carbalkoxy B" or carbocycloalkoxy and B" is alkyl or -CN or the group: wherein R 1 and R 3 are each H or halogen and R 2 is H, halogen, NO 2 or the group or B' and B" together with the carbon to which they are bonded form a cycloalkyl ring, or b) when n=0, A denotes -N<#R 4 R 5 wherein R 4 is H, OH, alkoxy, acyl or an aliphatic radical and R 5 is an aliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic, or heterocyclic radical which may be substituted by one or more of halogen, -CF 3 , -NO 2 , C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkylthio. C 1-4 alkoxy or acetyl, or -NR 4 R 5 denotes a heterocyclic ring having up to 7 members one of which may be a further hetero atom, with the proviso that both R 4 and R 5 should not simultaneously denote CH 3 if Y is H or Cl, and that if R 4 is H, Y is H or Cl and X is 0, R 5 does not represent wherein both P's represent H or halogen, one Q represents a halogen or -CF 3 or -NO 2 and the other Q represents H, halogen or alkoxy, in admixture or conjunction with 2) a solid carrier and/or a liquid carrier which comprises a solvent and a dispersing agent. A method of treating living plants or animals to combat pests comprises applying the compounds of formula I. The compounds may be used to combat undesired plant growth in a crop area, to combat phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi molluses, or Acarina on living plants, to combat Endo- and Ectoparasites on living animals, or for chemosterilizing insects.
