1,246,606. Dibenzazepine derivatives. STAROGARDZKIE ZAKLADY FARMACEUTYCZNE "POLFA". 17 April, 1970 [28 April, 1969], No. 18362/70. Heading C2C. The novel compound, 5 .chlorocarbonyl - 10- bromo-iminodibenzyl, is prepared by reacting iminodibenzyl with phosgene and treating the resulting 5 - chlorocarbonyl - iminodibenzyl with a brominating agent, preferably 1,3- dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin. 5 - Carbamoyl - 5H - dibenzo - [b,f] - azepine is prepared by dehydrobromination and amidation of 5-chlorocarbonyl.10-bromo-iminodibenzyl. The dehydrobromination and amidation may be effected simultaneously by treatment with ammonia. Alternatively, dehydrobromination may first be effected, e.g. by heating in the presence of a polyamide such as polycaprolactam and preferably also in the presence of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of a weak acid, to produce 5-chlorocarbonyl-5H- dibem-[b,f]-azepine and this compound then amidated by treatment with ammonia.
