1,218,430. Fungicidal and bactericidal compositions. BURTON PARSONS CHEMICALS Inc. 24 July, 1968 [7 Nov., 1967], No. 35356/ 68. Heading A5B. A fungicidal and bactericidal composition for external application especially for the treatment of pruritis ani consists essentially of N- trichloromethylmercapto-4-cyclohexene-1, 2-dicarboximide (captan) as an active fungicide and bactericide, polyvinylpyrrolidone as a stabilizer for the dicarboximide, and hydrogenated squalene as an active carrier for transepidermal penetration of the composition. The composition may include an ointment base e.g. polyethylene glycol and cetyl alcohol and optionally N-methyl -2-pyrrolidone. The composition may also contain a local anaesthetic e.g. diperodon monohydrate, tetracain or benzocaine; allantoin or salts thereof; oxycholesterin or other cholesterol derivatives hydrocartisone as an anti-inflammatory agent and/or a sequestering agent e.g. ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid di-, tri- or tetra-sodium salt.
