A cosmetic mask composition comprises an aqueous alcoholic mixture comprising a film-forming hydrocolloid gum and a cellulosic fibrous material. Specified gums are gum arabic, tragacanth, carrageenan, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, and methyl and hydroxypropyl cellulose ethers. The fibrous material may be wood or paper pulp. The composition may also include non-ionic and cationic surface active agents (e.g. sodium lauryl sulphate and ethoxylated fatty alcohols and acids), humectants, oils, skin bleaches, depilating agents, rubefacients, and medicaments (e.g. nicotinic acid, and liquid fraction of lanolin).
