A self-supporting film of gelatine or rice paper (i.e. dried egg albumen) may be coated or impregnated with a shampoo. In an example, a gelatine sheet is coated with molten cyclohexylamine lauryl sulphate and a second gelatin sheet is applied thereon to form a sandwich structure.ALSO:A self-supporting film of gelatin or rice paper (i.e. dried egg albumen) is coated or impregnated with a vitamin a mineral dietary supplement a drug for oral administration, a personal deodorant, a shampoo, a perfume, or a hair dye or lotion, or other cosmetic. The vitamin may be vitamin C and the drug may be a hormone, aspirin, caffeine, or hyoscine hydrobromide. The film may be in the form of a relatively large sheet or tape, which may be wound on a spool, preferably marked with graduations showing the amount of active material associated with a defined area. Alternatively, the film may be cut into any desired shape, each containing one dosage unit. The coating or impregnation of the film may be carried out using melting, spraying, or dipping techniques. The film may also be formed with the active material in situ.
