In a blow moulding process an extruded thermoplastic tube is secured in a vertically reciprocable mould comprising a tubular body with end closure members at least one of which has a small bore passage connected to a source of fluid pressure. The jet of fluid pierces the tube and then inflates it to the shape of the mould cavity.
