USPTO Abstract

A pressurized emulsion which has an oily phase and an aqueos phase and which produces a quick breaking foam when pressure is released and the pressurizing gas expands, comprises water-insoluble oil, hydrophilic carboxy vinyl polymer, emulsifier, water and nitrous oxide. The preferred polymer is a copolymer of acrylic acid and a polyallyl ether of sucrose. Examples are given of sun-screen and hair-dressing compositions.ALSO:Aerosol compositions producing a quick breaking foam are described. Hair dressings comprise mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin wax, propylene glycol as humectant, the sodium salt of a copolymer of acrylic acid and polyalkyl sucrose, emulsifiers, perfume and propellant. Sun-screen compositions comprise mineral oil, paraffin wax, polyethylene glycol, the sodium salt of EDTA, the sodium salt of a copolymer of acrylic acid and polyalkyl sucrose, emulsifiers, propellant and perfume plus either N, N-dimethyl-isoamyl-p-amino-benzoate or glyceryl p-amino-benzoate; an insect repellant, m-diethyl toluamide is included in the latter composition. Other sun-screen ingredients referred to are p-amino methyl benzoate, p-amino amyl benzoate, p-amino isoamyl benzoate and homomenthyl salicylate: another insect repellant mentioned is 2-ethyl-1, 3-hexane diol.
