Disclosed herein too is a method of reducing joint inflammation, swelling and/or pain in a subject, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount an analgesic composition to the subject; where the analgesic composition comprises a nanoparticle and/or a microparticle that comprises a charged lipid and/or a supporting lipid; where the charged lipid comprises an electrically charged group.
