USPTO Abstract

Inhalation therapy device comprising a housing (4) having a handle portion (12) for holding the inhalation therapy device during inhalation, a support surface (19) for placing the inhalation therapy device on a horizontal surface and a reservoir (2) for holding a liquid to be nebulized; a membrane unit (3) disposed in the housing and having a membrane (5) comprising a plurality of apertures (110), wherein the membrane (5) is disposed so that, when liquid is held in the reservoir (2), the liquid is supplied to a first side (5.1) of the membrane (5); an actuator (6) coupled to the membrane (5) for vibrating the membrane (5), whereby the liquid passes through the apertures (110) and an aerosol is generated at a second side (5.2) of the membrane (5) opposite to the first side (5.1); and a mouthpiece (27) having an outlet opening (8) defined by an outer edge (28) of the mouthpiece (27) for being put into the mouth of a user for inhaling the aerosol, wherein a center axis (CA 1 ) of the outlet opening (8) is non-parallel to the support surface (19) so that the outer edge (28) of the mouthpiece (27) is oriented in a direction towards the support surface (19) without interfering with a virtual extension (13) of the support surface (19).
