The present invention relates to a film coated tablet comprising empagliflozin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or crystalline polymorph thereof and at least one surfactant wherein the tablet is obtained by granulating at least one surfactant and empagliflozin together. The present invention also relates to a simple, rapid, cost effective, time-saving and industrially convenient method of preparing the formulation.
