The invention relates to a combination of acetaminophen and N-acetyl cysteine for its use in preventing and/or treating fever and/or pain, wherein: - the administered daily dose of acetaminophen is superior to 4000 mg per day for an adult, or is superior to 60 mg per weight kilo per day for a child, and - acetaminophen and N-acetyl cysteine are administered to said adult or child according to a ratio in weight of acetaminophen / N-acetyl cysteine comprised between 1 and 10.
