USPTO Abstract

The present invention provides an inhalation device comprising: an aerosol generator comprising a vibrator and a membrane; and a reservoir for liquid to be aerosolized which is in fluid communication with the membrane. A method for operating the device is also provided. Scans are performed in which an electrical parameter of the vibrator is measured as the membrane is vibrated at a plurality of frequencies. The stimulus which causes the membrane to vibrate is adjusted in response to the measured value of the electrical parameter, in order to maintain a constant value of the electrical parameter, or where a constant value of the electrical parameter cannot be maintained, to reduce the decrease in the value of the electrical parameter.
