The present invention provides methods of treating a bacterial infection in immunocompromised subjects and subjects having one or more underlying malignancies that include administering a combination of meropenem and vaborbactam to the subject. Suitable subjects to be treated may include a subject having a history of leukemia or lymphoma in progress, a subject having had an organ transplant, a stem cell transplant, a bone marrow transplant, or a splenectomy, a subject receiving immunosuppressive drugs, a subject receiving ablative bone marrow chemotherapy, a subject having neutropenia, and a subject suffering from or having suffered from malignancy.
