The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a multilayer film, the method comprising the steps of: - manufacturing each layer of the multilayer film separately; placing each of the layers obtained in step (a) on each other; and applying heat and pressure for a suitable period of time, at least one layer of two adjacent layers of the multilayer film comprising one or more of the group consisting of a binder excipient having a melting point in the range of 30 ° C to 100 ° C, preferably 35 ° C to 70 ° C as an integral component of said layer and said connecting excipient bonding layers together during the application of heat and pressure. The present invention also relates to an apparatus for producing such multilayer films and the films produced therefrom.
