A communication link is established (320) between the hand held communication device and an apparatus associated with the patient comprising utilization of the information relating to the patient. The hand held communication device receives (330) operational data associated with operation of a medical device by the patient. Receiving the operational data involves receiving (332) compliance data over the communication link from the apparatus relating to utilization of the medical device for a medical condition of the patient.
