Disclosed is a compound useful as a type I 11β hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase inhibitor. A compound represented by the formula: wherein R1 represents a cycloalkyl which may be substituted, a cycloalkenyl which may be substituted or the like; one of R2 and R3 represents a group represented by the formula: -C(=O)-Y-R4 (where Y represents a group represented by the formula: -NR9- or the like; R4 represents a cycloalkyl which may be substituted or the like; R9 represents a hydrogen or an alkyl which may be substituted; and W represents an alkylene which may be substituted) and the other represents a group represented by the formula: -V-R5 (where V represents a single bond, -O- or the like; R6 represents a hydrogen or an alkyl which may be substituted; and R5 represents a hydrogen, an alkyl which may be substituted or the like); X represents a single bond, -S-, -SO- or the like; U represents a single bond or an alkylene which may be substituted; R7 represents a hydrogen or an alkyl which may be substituted; Z represents -S-, -O- or -NR8-; and R8 represents a hydrogen, an alkyl which may be substituted), a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or a solvate of the compound or salt.
