The invention is further directed to the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases by administering an effective combination of a glucocorticoid and a proteasome inhibitor, ubiquitin pathway inhibitor, agent that interferes with the activation of NF-λB via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, or mixture thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a combination of a glucocorticoid and a proteasome inhibitor, ubiquitin pathway inhibitor, agent that interferes with the activation of NF-λB via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, or mixture thereof are also contemplated within the scope of the invention.
