The present invention relates to pharmacology and provides for the use of certain compositions in the preparation of medicaments for the treatment of a variety of intractable disorders. These compositions are a combination of dextromethorphan and an inhibitor of the liver enzyme debrisoquin hydroxylase. This combination of compositions has proven successful in the treatment of intractable coughing, dermatitis, chronic pain, and tinnitus.
