USPTO Abstract
Compositions for enhancing the ability to target gaseous microbubbles used in ultrasound contrast. The compositions include a cell adhesion molecule (CAM) ligand which is incorporated into a desired molecule to form a conjugate. Where the contrast agent is a collidal dispersion, the conjugate is formed with a surfactant. Where the agent is a solid microsphere, the conjugate is formed with the a portion of the solid. Once the conjugate is formed, the surfactant or microsphere will adhere to the surface of desired target cells by coupling of the CAM ligand to cell adhesion molecules expressed on the cell surface. <IMAGE>
