USPTO Abstract

A method of detecting a target nucleic acid using labeled oligonucleotides uses the 5 'to 3' nuclease activity of a nucleic acid polymerase to cut a labeled and circularized oligonucleotide of hybridized duplexes, and to release nucleotide fragments labeled for detection. This process is easily integrated into an amplification assay of the polymerase chain reaction.
