A direct tabletting auxiliary contains, in an intimate mixture, the essential components A) from 60 to 98% by weight, based on the direct tabletting auxiliary, of microcrystalline cellulose, cornstarch, mannitol, lactose, sorbitol, cellulose powder, calcium sulfate, calciuöm phosphate, calcium carbonate, sodium starch glycolate or calcium carboxymethyl cellulose, B) from 2 to 40% by weight, based on the direct tabletting auxiliary, of a binder selected from the group comprising hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose, methylcellulose, pregelatinized starch maltodextrin, polyvinylpyrrolidone, gelatin and α-, β- or γ-cyclodextrin, where the intimate mixture of A and B has been produced in the presence of water using a wet mixing process and simultaneous or subsequent drying.
