USPTO Abstract
The invention relates to a training device for an automatic injector, comprising a cylindrical outer sleeve (18) in the rear portion of which a discharge mechanism is connected and in the front portion of which a holder (19) intended for accommodating a punch member (10; 30; 31) is incorporated so as to be locked against forward movement, - in which the discharge mechanism comprises a plunger (14), a coil spring (16) which acts on said plunger (14), a locking device (25) and a safety member, - in which the holder (19) for the punch member (10; 30; 31) comprises a sleeve-like rear portion (20) which is open at each end, - in which the punch member (10; 30; 31) is accommodated in the holder (19) so that its rear end at least substantially engages the front end of the plunger (14), and that the front prod-shaped end (13; 32; 33) portion which has such dimensions that it can pass through the central aperture (22) in the nose portion (21) of the holder (19) outwards, is present within the holder (19) prior to use of the device, and - in which further an auxiliary means (46) is present for making the device ready for reuse. The rear end portion of the punch member (10; 30; 31) comprises means (27; 40; 41) which, in cooperation with means (28) provided on the inner wall of the sleeve-like rear portion (20) of the holder (19), prevent undesired forward movement of the punch member (10; 30; 31) in the holder (19), in which, however, the device at the area of said means (27; 40; 41) is proportioned so that after activation the wall of the holder (19) can expand resiliently outwards within the outer sleeve (18) to allow the punch member (10; 30; 31) to pass.
