USPTO Abstract

An automatic injector is provided having at least two chambers (27 and 28) containing different ingredients of a medicament separated by an impermeable membrane (29). A lance (34) is movable independently of a plunger (33) to cut or pierce the membrane (29) before a spring-loaded drive member (37) for the plunger (33) is released to drive a needle (30) out of the body (1) of the injector and discharge the medicament through the needle (30). A removable safety clip (3) is provided for preventing movement of an actuating cap (4) into an operative position for advancing the lance (34), and release of the drive member (37) is preventable by a removable safety pin (5) until the injector is to be used.
