Novel alkyl-benzoylbenzofurans are disclosed. The novel compound have the formula wherein R is an alkyl group containing 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R₁ is an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R₂ and R₃ are each an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms and n is an integer of 1 or 2. The compounds of the invention are useful for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia and pharmaceutical compositions containing above compounds as active material are also disclosed.
