Several related processes are disclosed for extracting the active chemical substance in the aloe plant from a leaf of the aloe plant, as are compositions based on ethanol precipitation products of the juice of the aloe plant with the precipitation product being substantially non-degradable and lyophilized. Furthermore, the application relates to a base formulation for the production of aloe vera-containing topical products and to moisture resistant emulsion formulations based on aloe juice. The application also describes aloe-based counter-irritant formulations based on aloe juice.
